Quetta The Capital Of Pakistan Province Balochistan

A route for traders, invaders, and nomadic tribes between India and higher Asia

A city surrounded by fruit gardens, named because of its fruit supply to different parts of the country, is known as Quetta, the capital of Pakistan province Balochistan. This city gained fame for many reasons, including its location along with the Bolan Pass.


The city is surrounded by three mountains: Chiltan, Zarghun, and Kho-e-Murdar. One and only one route to go into South Asia. Important city due to its closeness to the borders of Iran and Afghanistan. Two million people live there; the city has an area of 2653 sq. km, 1648 miles.


Quetta Pakistan Climate

Located 1680m above sea level and enjoys a healthy climate. Summer starts in May and goes on until September. Autumn starts in late September and continues until mid-November. 


Quetta is riched with fruits. Plums, peaches, pomegranates, apricots, apples, guavas, Garma, sardas, pistachios and almonds are grown there. Yellow and red varieties grow around in Quetta.


People and Culture Of Balochistan, Quetta Pakistan

Most people are Pashtun, followed by Baloch and Baruhi. Punjabis, Hzaras, Tajikis, Turkomen and Uzbeks also live there. People of this land are hospitable, kind-hearted, proud, robust and fiercely independent. They honored their values.


How to reach Quetta?

If you want to travel from Karachi to Quetta, you can easily get a taxi or private car from Sher Shah Road which will take you Quetta, Balochistan in $60 to $120.Quetta is connected to the other parts of the country by train, air and road.


Karachi to Quetta by Air

There is an international airport 15 minutes away from the city center. People go to different parts of the country, such as Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. International flights go through this airport including London, Amsterdam, and Dubai.

Quetta to Karachi by Train

Daily trains pass through Quetta, which connects this city with most major cities in Pakistan.  Overnight sleeper Bolan Mail comes through  Karachi and arrives afternoon of the next day in this city. Quetta Express passes through Peshawar, stops at Rawalpindi and then at Lahore and arrives around 5 pm on the next day.

One train is also coming from Afghanistan and arrived later that evening just before 6:30 pm.


One international train also comes from Zahedan (Iran) to Quetta.  On the 3rd and 17th of every month, the train departs at 8 am, supposedly arriving the next day at 3:15 pm. Be aware, however, that delays are the norm; the actual arrival time is usually between 3-6 hours after schedule. On specific events, this train can be canceled and rescheduled according to the time and situation.


By Road Karachi to Quetta

In the East, the highway connects Quetta to Karachi, and in the west, via Koh-e-Taftan to Tehran, Iran, 1435 km (891 miles) away. Sibi Road connects it with Punjab and upper Sindh. Loralai Road - Fort Munro -D.G. Khan and Multan is a shorter route for Punjab. The Chaman Road acts as a link between the country and the Afghan border.


Hanna Lake

If you want to enjoy and look for something exciting near the city, you must visit Hanna Lake. It is approximately 10 km from the city and very close to the Urak. There are  Golden fish in the lake swimming right up to the edge.  The waters of the lake give a greenish blue tint shade for some distance.  Pine trees have been planted where water has ended, on the grass-filled slopes. 


Wagon service operates the bus service at the Circular Road station. The transport can be hired through the PTDC Tourist Information Centre, Muslim Hotel,  and end at Jinnah Road Quetta.

Dam

There is a dam where(rainwater and snowfall) water are stored for further use. This is also a place for tourists' enjoyment.


Hazarganji Chiltan National Park

Hazarganji literally means "Of a thousand treasures." In these mountains,  thousands of treasures are buried here.


Hazarganji Chiltan National Park is located 20 km southwest of Quetta. Markhors have been protected at this park. The park is stretched over 32 5000 acres, with altitudes ranging from 2000 to 3200 meters.

Park Rangers always help visitors to see animals at Hazarganji Chiltan National Park. If you are a history lover, a small museum of natural history is located near the Park entrance.


Pir Ghaib

A beautiful waterfall, also a picnic point for tourists or locals located 70km (43 miles) away from the city.


Kharkhassa

Located 10km (6 miles) away from Quetta.


Museums

Two museums have a vast collection of different things.


The Archaeological Museum

 This museum has a vast collection of rare antique guns, swords and manuscripts. There are also coins, manuscripts and photos of Quetta before the 1935 earthquake.


The Geological Museum

Rocks or fossil lovers, you can get a vast collection of rocks and fossils found in Balochistan at this museum.


Amusement and Recreation


The Askari Park on Airport Road and Liaquat Park on Shahrah-e-Iqbal provide amusement facilities.


Karkhasa is a recreation Park situated 10 km away to the west of Quetta, Having a variety of flora like Ephedra, Artemisia and Sophora. One can see birds like partridges and other wild birds in the park.


 Recreational facilities are provided to the visitors through the Forest Department, Spinney Road, Quetta, when they visit this ordinary park.


Festivals

Sibi Festival and Buzkashi Festival both occurred at Quetta. The Sibi festival is attended by common folks, ministers and other government officials. Folk music performances, cultural dances, handicraft stalls, cattle shows, and a number of other amusing activities present a perfect riot of color.


 Buzkashi is a festival showing the bravery of the Pashtun people. It is celebrated on horse-back by both two teams that use their skills to snatch a goat from each other.


Buy

You can buy a lot of things like local handicrafts, especially mirror work, shirts, bags, bedsheets and dry fruits.


Jinnah bazaar is the main bazaar; here, you can buy every type of carpet, dry fruits, jackets, fur, coats, sandals and other creations of Balochi and Pashtun skills.


Eat

Saiji, Landhi and Khadi Kabab are the most famous dishes of Quetta.
